  Lara Ealways: Born: 13 Nov 1914 www.findagrave.com: www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=93597694 Was the 6th child of John and Christina (Hoerth)Zimbelman. She attended Northrup District #35 country school graduating from the 8th grade. She worked in various homes taking care of the young and old, including Grandpa Harrison and the Scoby & Cain children. She also took care of Ron Evans when he was a baby who later became a NASA Astronaut occupying the Command Module Pilot seat for Apollo 17. Erna married Rudy Schlepp and together raised 4 children on their farm which was about 13 miles west of St. Francis. She was involved with all school actives and 4-H projects with her children and was a member of the Jolly Jane's Club for 64 years. She was very active in her church. She sang in the church choir for over 50 years and in 1995 received her life time membership from the United Methodist Church Women's Organization which she was a member for 63 years. Her church and her faith in God along with her church family sustained her through trials and tribulations throughout her lifetime. Loosing her 1st grandchild at age 4 1/2 and her son at age 37 was a difficult time for her and the family. Erna was a wonderful cook. Many remembered her German Schupfknodels, kasekniple, haloopsies, along with her angel food cakes, dill pickles and home made noodles. She loved to entertain and enjoyed the many dinners and get-to-gethers she and Rudy hosted at the farm and later at their home in own. Erna passed away at age 93 years old.
