  Beckie Kemmerer Daniels: UID: BE23CDB170C749648F839AFDFED2252708C4 Nellie Karolina (Nell) Keithahn, 85, of Olympia, WA, was born February 23, 1913 to Olaf Frederick (Fred) and Esther (Nordmark) Olson in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada, and passed away September 4, 1998. She married Charles Henry Keithahn in 1942 in Puyallup. He preceded her in death in 1971. Nell graduated from Puyallup High School in 1930 and received her Two Year Standard Elementary Certificate from Pacific Lutheran College in 1932. In 1933 she received her Three Year Certificate and in 1935, received her Five Year Certificate, both from P.L.C. She received her Life Standard Elementary Certificate from Bellingham Normal in 1936. In 1961 she received a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Pacific Lutheran University. She also attended San Francisco State College and the University of Washington. Nell began her teaching career in 1932 in Pierce County. She received a salary of $684 (that's yearly, folks!). She taught in Port Townsend and Puyallup before moving to Olympia in 1948. In Olympia she taught primary grades at Roosevelt, Washington, Madison and Lincoln elementary schools, retiring in 1974. During her teaching career she taught all grades (1-12) and vocal music. Thirty-seven years of teaching.. can you imagine? At her death she was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Thurston County Retired Teachers Association and WA State Retired Teachers Association. She is survived by her daughter, Chanelle Anne Keithahn of Enumclaw, WA; a stepson, Julian D. Keithahn and wife Adele of San Juan Capistrano, CA; and her grandson, August Charles Wolff and wife Jennifer of Enumclaw, WA. Inurnment was at Olympic Memorial Gardens in Tumwater. Private services were held by the family. Nell was a great saltwater fisherman! She enjoyed bowling, traveling, walking, card games, eating out, and the Sonics. She was an avid reader, a superb piano player, a collector of frogs (non-living), and grew the best tomatoes! She loved Reno, taco salads, pickled herring and lutefisk. She hated green peppers!
