Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mitchell, SD with burial at Parkston Protestant Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, November 1, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Will Funeral Chapel. Norma Semmler, was born June 16, 1935 in Delmont, SD to Arnold and Alta (Brenner) Semmler, and has two brothers and three sisters. She was baptized into the Christian faith as an infant and confirmed at Hope Lutheran Church in Delmont. Norma was married to Harold Bietz on June 16, 1954. They met in Delmont, SD and were married for 59 years. They made their home on a farm north of Delmont until 1966 when they moved to Mitchell where they have lived ever since. They had four children and they attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Mitchell. Norma graduated from college in Springfield, SD and later received her master's degree in Education from Northern State College in Aberdeen, SD. She retired from teaching after 35 years of service to young people whom she really enjoyed. She was very active in service at Trinity Lutheran Church in numerous roles. Norma also was a member of AAUW, Mitchell Area Retired Teachers' Association and volunteered at the Area Safe House and Hospitality House. Norma was known for her support of community outreach and hospitality. She had a warm and welcoming spirit to everyone she knew. Norma was preceded in death by her parents.
