Selma Zimbelman, 70, Bismarck, passed away on Nov. 2, 2014, in Elgin, after several years of cancer. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, with the Rev. Darrel Aleson officiating. Burial will be at Goodrich Cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Selma Marie Zimbelman was born Sept. 13, 1944, the daughter of Emmanuel and Hilda Zimbelman at Heil. She moved to the Grafton State School in 1950. Selma moved to the Bismarck/Mandan area in 1985 and was served all these years by HIT, Inc. She lived in a group home, then in adult foster care and most recently in an apartment. She and her special friend have been roommates for over 25 years and have enjoyed each other very much.
Selma loved to play bingo, or maybe it was the part where she chose her prize! She also loved having her fingernails painted. Selma would quickly hold out her prize and her fingernails to show you when she saw you approaching. She enjoyed doing crafts, going out for coffee and supper, listening to music and watching Jeopardy and the news. She liked holding different items she was given or won at bingo. Selma always greeted you when she saw you and genuinely enjoyed being around people. She made many people see the world in a different way and will be missed by many that loved her so.
Selma is survived by her dear friend and roommate; and her friends at HIT, West Central Human Service Center and Catholic Charities of North Dakota.
