OBITUARY

Vesta Berenice Rubendall-Harr: 98, died Monday, Sept. 27, 2004, at San Luis Obispo, CA.
Vesta Rubendall was born Jan. 2, 1906, in Artesian, SD, the daughter of a Seventh-day Adventist evangelist. She spent her young life moving from town to town, often living in family tents near the site where her father preached. She received her elementary education through home schools and numerous church schools in the Midwest. She graduated from Maplewood (MN) Academy and received a music degree from Scandinavian College, Hutchinson, MN, in 1927. She married Ben Harr of Cleveland in 1933. In 1936, they moved to Mobile, AL, where they lived for 17 years. He died in 1953. She moved to Lynwood, CA, where she taught at Lynwood Church School. In 1958, she received a Bachelor's Degree in education from LaSierra College, Riverside, CA, and later earned a California teaching credential from Long Beach (CA) State. She transferred to Long Beach Church School in 1960, where she taught for 11 years. She retired in 1971, after 34 years of teaching and moved to Los Osos, CA. She was the driving force in the construction of the Morro Bay (CA) Adventist Church and was involved in the design and landscape of the church grounds. In 1993, she moved to southern California, where she lived under the care of her niece and nephew until returning to the CA central coast area in June 2004. She enjoyed caring for her home and yard, sewing, helping with church music and acting as church treasurer; creating floral arrangements for Sabbath and bird watching. She is survived by two granddaughters, Gina Harr and Angela Harr-Eackles, both Sunnyvale, CA; and a daughter-in-law, Jeanne Harr, Los Osos. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Berdy, and a sister, Vivian Christensen
