Wilbur Fred Sholtz, 88, died Thursday at the Webster County Hospital, Red Cloud. Services were Saturday at the First Baptist Church, Guide Rock, with the Rev Tom Hinshaw officiating. Interment was in the Guide Rock Cemetery.
Sholtz, the son of William and Mary Schultz Sholtz, was born July 12, 1905, in Jewell County. His family moved to Hastings where he started school before returning to Kansas. He farmed in Kansas and Nebraska. During the Depression years, he was employed in Idaho.
He was united in marriage with Lucille Strnad, Feb 10, 1945 at Mankato. They lived at Council Bluffs, Iowa. He was employed as a craftsman with a granite monument works in Omaha for 30 years. In 1982, he moved to Guide Rock.
Sholtz was preceded in death by his parents; wife; three brothers and one sister.
Survivors include his sons, Kendal, Northfield, Minn., and Tindal, Council Bluffs, Iowa; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Simonson-Williams funeral Home, Red Cloud, was in charge of the arrangements.
