Esther Geigle Zimbelmann passed away in Lodi on January 31, 2013 at the age of 91. She was born in Lodi on July 28, 1921 to George and Christina (Martel) Geigle. The family settled in Victor where Esther attended elementary school and Lodi Union High School. She was baptized and confirmed in Emanuel Lutheran Church.
Esther married Alvin "Zimmie" Zimbelmann in 1938 and they, too, settled in Victor to raise their two daughters. Esther worked as a grocery store cashier at United Market in Victor.
In retirement, Esther enjoyed spending time with her family, shopping and lunching with her sisters.
Esther is survived by her daughters, Dolores Zimbelmann and Judy Schweigerdt (Terry) of Lodi.
Three grandchildren, Sandy Boccia (Dino) of Stockton, Suzie Collins (Roger) of Sacramento and Scott Schweigerdt (Jodi) of Lodi.
Three great grandchildren, Breanne Boccia Maas (Alan) of Stockton, Tiffany Schweigerdt Berwick (John) and John Schweigerdt (Tarah) of Lodi.
Three great-great grandchildren, Abigail Schweigerdt, Ethan Berwick and Madalyn Maas.
Esther was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of fifty-nine years; brother, Leo Geigle; and two sisters, Dorothy Smiley and Pauline "Pat" Piazza. She was also preceded in death by thirteen half brothers and sisters.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 2:00pm at Cherokee Memorial Park Cemetery.
There will be no visitation and the Donahue Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
