Emma Ulrike Marie Albrecht, nee Liermann, was the daughter of Carl Liermann and his wife, nee Degner, both deceased.
She was born at Caledonia, Wis., on June 11, 1869, at which place she was also baptized by the Rev. E. G. C. Markworth on July 11, 1869.
When her parents with a number of other relatives came to
Thayer County, Nebr., in the spring of 1874, she also came along, being nearly 5 years of age, and throughout her sojourn in this community she was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church at Friedensau.
After having been instructed in the Christian doctrine she was confirmed in Trinity Lutheran Church at Friedensau on March 18, 1883, by the Rev. R. H. Biedermann.
On February 28, 1889, she entered holy matrimony with Mr.
John Albrecht, the ceremony having been performed by the
Rev. G. P. Storm. Into this marriage union were born 2 sons and 7 daughters, one son, John, dying in infancy, and the oldest daughter, Clara, wife of Paul Thiemann, passing away in December, 1935.
She is survived by her husband, John Albrecht, one son, Arthur Albrecht, and six daughters, Emilie, wife of Henry C. Schardt, Josephine, wife of Julius Kraft, Emma, wife of Edward Schmidt, Erna, wife of Walter Scbardt, Rosina, wife of Fred Behle, and Florence, wife of Walter Thieme, all of whom live in the Friedensau community except Mrs. Fred Behle, who lives at Columbus, Nebr. Further survivors are 7 son-in-laws, 1 daughter-in-law, 26 grandchildren, and 4 brothers, Albert and Carl Liermann, of California, Emil Liermann, of Idaho, and John Liermann, of Arlington, Nebr., and a large number of other relatives and friends.
Saturday afternoon, July 10, at about 5 o'clock, she was stricken by a hemorrhage of the brain, lapsed into unconsciousness not long after, and at 6:30 the same evening her soul was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom.
She attained an age of 68 years and 29 days.
Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday forenoon, July 14, beginning at 9:00 o'clock at the home, thence to Trinity Lutheran Church at Friedensau, where her pastor, Theo. Droegmueller, addressed the large assembly in German and English, basing his remarks on Is. 66:13 and Luke 16:22 respectively.
The congregation and the choirs sang hymns of comfort and hope and faith in the Savior of sinners.
The body was laid to rest in the congregation's burial ground adjoining the church yard to await the call unto resurrection on the final great day.
