lived with his parents his earlier days, receiving his education and assisting in tilling the soil of his father's farm. At the age of twenty-one he began farming on his own account, which he has since continued to follow. In 1853, in Harrison County, he married Miss Lydia Veach, a native of Harrison County, and daughter of David and Mary Veach. They are the parents of three children, two of whom are now living, viz: Sally B., wife of Horace Benton, living in Clark County, Ky., and Comes V., living at home. He is the owner of a well improved farm of 140 acres of choice land called "Walnut Hill," situated three miles east of Cynthiana, on the Cynthiana and Millersburg Pike. Upon his farm he makes stockraising a specialty, as horses, cattle, sheep and hogs. He was at one time a U.S. Storekeeper and Gauger. His wife is a member of the Methodist Church and in politics he is a Republican.
