The Rev. Donald G. Foley of Springfield went to be with the Lord February 6, 2010. He was born July 8, 1924, in Kansas City, Mo. He was married to Barbara Miller on February 4, 1945 in Leavenworth, Kan. She preceded him in death on January 14, 2009.
Don came from a long line of Southern Baptist Preachers, starting with his grandfather, W.A. Foley; his brother, Charles Foley; and his father Charles W. Foley, know as the Ozarks Evangelist. There has been over 250 years of preaching in the family.
Survivors include a daughter, Gina and husband, Steve Graves of Springfield; grandson, Tyler Graves; and great-grandson, Cane Miller; and from a youthful marriage a daughter, Donna Kay Foley Atkinson and her husband, Jack of Hartville; five grandchildren, Rick and Merry Atkinson, Gary and Deonna Atkinson, Mike and Jana Atkinson, Mitzi Whittaker, and Terri Atkinson and friend, Dawn Webb; 15 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren . He is also survived by brothers, Rev. Charles W. Foley and wife, Jewel of San Diego Calif.; David Foley of Kansas City, Kan.; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held in Greenlawn Funeral Home South, Wednesday, February 10, from 7 to 8 p.m. Graveside services will be held in the White Chapel Cemetery at 3 p.m. Thursday, February 11, 2010. Family and friends are encouraged to attend.
