Clyde Remboldt, 73, Jamestown, died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2010, at Ave Marie Village, Jamestown.
Mr. Remboldt was born April 15, 1937, at the family farm home, north of Gackle, N.D., the son of Edward C. and Ida (Hehn) Remboldt. He graduated from Gackle High School in 1955. He entered the U.S. Navy on May 30, 1955, at the Great Lakes Training Center, Chicago, Ill. He served on an oil tanker and was later transferred to an ice breaker USS Atka G-B-3. He traveled through the Panama Canal to the Arctic North Pole once and to the Arctic South Pole twice. He was discharged May 30, 1959, at Boston, Mass., with the rank of S H 3rd Class. He returned to Gackle and worked for the Gackle Packing Co.
He married Alice Maier on Aug. 12, 1962, in Streeter, N.D. They lived in Gackle. In 1967, they moved to the family farm north of Gackle. They retired in 1991 and moved to Jamestown. She died May 19, 2009. He was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Gackle, and the American Legion Mayor-Morlock Post 250, Gackle.
He is survived by two sons, Shawn (Cody), Lincoln, N.D., and Shay, Hugo, Minn; two sisters, Arlene (Lloyd) Veil, Streeter, and Twilla (Dwight) Wiest, Gackle; a granddaughter; and two special nieces, Debbie (Mike) Zimmerman, Streeter, and Kim (Jon) Hummel, Firestone, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; and two brothers, Kevin and Clayton.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Gackle, with the Rev. Bernie Jasken officiating.
Prayer service: 7 p.m. Friday, Haut Funeral Home, Jamestown.
Memorials: Red River Valley Hospice.

Edward C. Remboldt, 95, Jamestown, died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Center, Jamestown.
Mr. Remboldt was born April 5, 1907, in Griffin Township north of Gackle, N.D., the son of Christ and Carolina (Lang) Remboldt. He attended the local rural school in Alexander Township. He married Ida Hehn on Sept. 18, 1936, in Gackle. They farmed one and a half miles north of Gackle. She died Jan. 1, 1959.
He moved to Gackle in 1966 and continued to farm and also worked at Gackle Locker. In 1989 he moved into the Gackle Care Center. In 1998 he entered Central Dakota Village, where he lived for a short time before entering Hi-Acres Manor. He was a member of Seventh-day Adventist Church, served as deacon at the church and served on the township board.
He is survived by two sons, Clyde (Alice), Jamestown, and Clayton (Twila), Gackle; two daughters, Arlene (Lloyd) Veil, Streeter, N.D., and Twilla (Dwight) Weist, Gackle; a sister, Ruth Netz, Morgan, Utah; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, Kevin; and three brothers, Albert, Oscar and Reuben.
Services: 2 p.m. Friday, Grace Baptist Church, Gackle.
Visitation: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, 9 a.m. to noon Friday, Haut Funeral Homes, Gackle.

Mrs. C. Remboldt, Gackle-Pionierin, stirbt im Alter von 80 Jahren
Mrs. Christ Remboldt, 80, langjährige Bewohnerin der Gackle Community, starb am späten Montagabend im Trinity Hospital in Jamestown, wo sie in den letzten drei Monaten Patientin war. Trauergottesdienste waren am Sonntag um 14 Uhr. in der Baptistenkirche in Gackle mit Elder D. E. Howe und Elder Albert Schimke von der Kirche der Siebenten-Tags-Adventisten. Die Beerdigung fand auf dem Gackle Cemetery statt.
Frau Arthur Brandenburg spielte ein Programm mit Orgelmusik. Ein Quartett, Robert Liebelt, Arthur Heinrich, Arthur Reile und Lawrence Schroeder sangen mit Miss Cynthia Heinrich, die die Begleitung spielte. Platzanweiser waren Ezra Hehn und Fred Schmierer. Sargträger waren August F. Lang, Rudolph Lang, Fred Schroeder, Gus Schmierer, Emil Remboldt und Conrad Rivinius.
Frau Remboldt, die frühere Caroline Lang, wurde am 28. Januar 1885 in Kassel, Südrussland, als Tochter von Herrn und Frau Philip Lang geboren. Sie kam 1900 mit ihren Eltern in die Vereinigten Staaten und die Familie ließ sich in Tripp, S. D. nieder, zog später im selben Jahr nach North Dakota, wo sie ihr Zuhause auf einer Farm neun Meilen nordöstlich von Gackle im Stutsman County errichteten.
Am 19. März 1905 wurde sie auf der Familienfarm mit Christ Remboldt verheiratet und sie bewohnten sie vier Meilen nordöstlich von Gackle. Sie bewirtschafteten nordöstlich von Gackle bis zu ihrer Pensionierung im Jahr 1938, als sie nach Gackle zogen, um sich dort niederzulassen. Herr und Frau Remboldt feierten im Frühjahr 1965 ihren 60. Hochzeitstag. Sie war Mitglied der Gemeinde der Siebenten-Tags-Adventisten in Gackle.

Edward Hehn, 72, Gackle Pioneer, Dies Unexpectedly
Edward Hehn, 72, longtime resident of the Gackle community died unexpectedly late Friday evening, Nov. 13, at his home in Gackle. His death was attributed to a heart condition. He was born Feb. 24, 1892 in Neiburg, So. Russia, the son of Andrew Hehn and Katherine Heinrich Hehn. At the age of 14 he came with his parents to the United States in 1906, when they settled in the vicinity northeast of Gackle in Stutsman County.
In 1914 he and Elizabeth Remboldt were married in Jamestown. They farmed in the Gackle and Streeter community until moving to a farm near Omemee. A short time later they returned to the Gackle and Streeter area. Following the death of his wife, he continued to live on the farm.
In 1943 he and Mrs. Magdalena Fischer Stienstra were married in Aberdeen, S.D. They farmed until the fall of 1945 when they moved to Jamestown where he was employed at the North Dakota State Hospital. When he retired in 1959, they made their home in Gackle.
Surviving are his wife, one son Eddie H. Hehn, Gackle, daughter, Mrs. Walter Fischer, Jamestown; eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. John Wetzel, Bottineau, one step son, Clifford Stienstra, Moorhead, Minn., one step daughter, Mrs. Burely Kirkolf, Kalamazoo, Mich. He was proceeded in death by his parents, one daughter, one grandson, one son, Artie M. Hehn, four brothers, and one sister.
The funeral service was Nov. 17, at the Grace Baptist Church in Gackle with Rev. Bernard Edinger, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Gackle Cemetery. (Haut Funeral Home).

MRS. RIVINIUS DIED SUDDENLY AT GACKLE by Mrs. Eddie K. Remboldt
Mrs. Elizabeth Rivinius, 66, widow of the late John Rivinius, died at her home in Gackle suddenly last Sunday evening, May 27. Mother Rivinius had not complained of being ill. She evidently had been in the yard about 7:15 p.m. and was entering the house when she was stricken by a heart attack and died immediately. She was found by friends who were riding by and saw her on the sidewalk in front of the door.
Mrs. Rivinius, whose maiden name was Elizabeth Remboldt, was born in South Russia, September 7, 1878. She came to America with her parents when five years old, living near Scoutland, S.D. She was married to Konrad Remboldt in 1891 at Olivet, S.D. They were the parents of seven daughters and five sons. Mr. Remboldt died Nov. 12, 1918. In 1922 she was married to Gottlieb Bender. They lived on a farm east of Gackle until Mr. Bender's death in 1928. The following year Mrs. Bender and John Rivinius were married and they lived on the farm until Mr. Rivinius died in 1940. Mrs. Rivinius moved to Gackle in December, 1940, living with her son, Eddie and family until May, 1942, when she bouth the home in which she died.
Survivors are the following sons and daughters: Christ K. and Albert K. Remboldt of Everett, Wash.; Mrs. J.P. Nenbauer (Lydia) of Bismarck; Archie W. Remboldt of Jamestown; Mrs. J.W. Muller (Philipina), Mrs. Ed. Otto (Bertha), Miss Pauline Remboldt, Eddie K. Remboldt, Mrs. Alvin DeWitt (Christina) and Mrs. Fred F. Lang (Helen) all of Gackle. Konrad K. Remboldt and Mrs. Ed. Hehn (Lizzie) preceded their mother in death. Also surviving are four brothers: John, Henry, Peter and Christ Remboldt, and a sister, Mrs. Carl Heinrich of Gackle; 16 stepchildren, 25 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Mrs. Rivinius was a member of Grace Baptist Church and Ladies' Aid.
The funeral was held in Grace Baptist church with Rev. J.J. Abel in charge. Rev. G.W. Rutsch of Emery, S.D. also took part in the services. Music was rendered by the Ladies' Aid and grand-daughters. Pallbearers were the husbands of the Rivinus (sic) daughters and sons of John Rivinius. Six grand-daughters acted as flower girls. All children were present for the funeral, also Rev. and Mrrs. (sic) K. Goodwin and Frieda Rivinius of Macan, Ga.; Mr. and Mrs. Otto Brandt and Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Gall of Wishek; Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Ketterling of Elgin and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Haar of Bismarck.
Burial was made in the Gackle cemetery beside her first husband.

Ernest Remboldt, father of Pete, died last Sunday. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at the Congregational Church. The family has the sympathy of the entire community in their loss.
