Notes: Schatz. Marie Katherine Schatz (nee Urbach), 74, beloved wife of the Reverend J. E., dear mother of Ruth (Mrs. W. A. Haase), Marvin Paul, and Ardeth Hope (Mrs. W. D. English), grandmother of Gary C. Haase, Hollace, Lindsay and Marie Schatz, Alicia, Debra, Cynthia, David and Claudia English, great-grandmother of David K. Haase, sister of Joseph, Huldah, Dan, and the late David, passed away March 16. Funeral and Memorial Service on Thursday, Mar. 20 at 3 P.M. at Independent Evangelical Church 2100 W. 44 St., Cleveland. The Reverend J. Peter Wagner officiating, and Charles F. Nunn, funeral director in charge of arrangements. Friends will be received in The Church Sanctuary Thursday, Mar. 20, only, from 1 to 2:45 P.M. and may contribute to a church memorial in her memory. Interment Sunset Memorial Park.
Shatz: "Mrs Jacob Schatz, wife of Rev Jacob Schatz who lived in Odessa as a boy, has died in Cleveland, Ohio. Pastor Schatz' father, John V Schatz, owned a lumber yard and was in the wheat business in this area for many years. Pastor and Mrs Schatz had served their church for the past 35 years. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the church some months ago, the congregation honored them for their faithful service by giving the couple an expense-paid trip to the Holy Land. Rev and Mrs Schatz had planned to visit in Odessa this year, according to word received by W C Raugust. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 20, from the Congregational church in Cleveland.
