Dorothy VanDerWerff, 82 4704 W. 40th Street died Monday, April 4, 2005 at Avera McKennan Hospital.
Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, April 9, 2005 at Sunnycrest United Methodist Church with interment at Hills of Rest Memorial Park. Visitation will begin 11:00 AM Friday, April 8, 2005 at George Boom Funeral Home with family present to greet friends from 7-8 PM.
Dorothy Bernice Moos, daughter of Gottlieb and Selma (Miller) Moos, was born July 15, 1922 in Fairfax, SD. She grew up there and graduated from Fairfax High School in 1941. Following graduation Dorothy lived in Chicago, IL and Mitchell, SD.
Dorothy was united in marriage with Dale W. VanDerWerff on April 20, 1951 in Luverne, MN. The couple lived n Alabama where Dale was stationed in the military. After his discharge, the couple moved to Sioux Falls, SD where she worked as a presser for My Two For One Cleaners and Davis Dry Cleaners from 1953 until she retired in 1984.
Dorothy was a member of Sunnycrest United Methodist Church. She enjoyed fishing, ceramics, crocheting and gardening. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Dale, on March 5, 2002; her parents; and a brother, Donald.
