Rastede passed, into the eternal peace of God's arms, in her home. Virginia was born July 25, 1929 in Monmouth, IL, to Dr. Lee H. and Muriel F. (Bankert) Shaffer. She graduated from Monmouth High School, received an Associates of Arts degree from Stephens College in Columbia, MO and a Bachelors of Arts degree from Monmouth College in Monmouth, IL. She married J. William Rastede on August 2, 1952 in Monmouth, IL. He died August 23, 1992. Upon graduation from Monmouth College, she began her teaching career in the Morrison School System. After the birth of her two children, she stayed home for 12 years, at which time she returned to teaching, retiring from the Sterling School District in 1990. Virginia was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Morrison, participating in various groups. She was a 50 year member of DAR, a 50 year member of PEO – Morrison Chapter, and remained actively involved in Kappa Kappa Gamma throughout her life. She enjoyed golf, playing bridge, antiquing, and gardening. Survivors include one daughter, Ruth (J. Michael) King of Rockton, IL; one son, Donald (Meta) Rastede of Sterling, IL six grandchildren, Leighann (Jay) Albaugh, Lisa Rastede, Frederick Rastede, Elizabeth King, David King, and Brian King; and special friend, Jere Wilford. Mr. Lehr was owner and operator of General Sheet Metal shop on East Lodi Avenue for 36 years before selling the business when he retired in 1982. He was very active in community activities and specialized in cooking dinners for a number of organizations. He served on the committee to close railroad crossings and was a member of Lodi Elks Lodge No. 1900 and Lodi SIRS. He was born in Lehr, North Dakota and came to Lodi at an early age. He attended local schools and married Mary Moresino in Carson City, Nevada in 1941. During World War II, Mr. Lehr built and repaired submarines for the U. S. Navy. He began his own business in the fall of 1946. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lehr; his son, Dr. James Lehr; a daughter, Debbie Lehr-Lee; two sisters, Ida Moroney, Martha Grillo; two brothers, William Lehr and Albert Lehr; two grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Lehr is preceded in death by seven brothers, Andrew, Jack, Harry, John, Robert, Sam and Walter Lehr; one sister, Hilda McBee. Funeral services will be held on Thursday in the Lodi Funeral home chapel with the Rev. Ronald Grelich of Salem United Methodist church and Lodi Elks Lodge No. 1900 officiating. Afterwards he tried to found a flying school, but that also failed. He was married to Marguerite De La Motte, but they divorced shortly before his death. He committed suicide in 1936 by renting a yacht and sailing it into the ocean where he jumped off the boat and drowned himself. His body washed up on the beach the next day. Shirley Salathe was born August 5, 1928, in rural Sully County to George and Verna (Beckett) Salathe. She attended Country School and later Harold High School, where she graduated. She married Victor Auch on June 8, 1946. They moved to Chamberlain in 1955. Shirley started working at St. Joseph Indian School in 1957 and was employed there for 35 years. After Shirley retired, she and her husband moved to Pierre to be with their grandkids. Shirley enjoyed her retirement and spending time with her grandkids. Shirley is survived by her son, James Auch, of Pierre; daughter, Gerrie (Allen) Boone, of Aurora Colo.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Lorrie (Elmer) Maher, of Pierre; and brother, Jerald (Marlys) Salathe, of New York Mills, Minn. Rae was born January 15, 1922, to Julius and Elizabeth Schlenker in Watkins, Montana. She attended school in Watkins, graduating from Terry Mt. High School. Rae married Gene E. Wood December 2, 1951. Gene passed away June 27, 1986. After their marriage, they lived in Riverdale, North Dakota; Worthington, Minnesota; and Miles City, Montana. They moved to Idaho Falls in 1966. Rae began her career as a Dental Assistant while living in Worthington, continuing in Miles City, and Idaho Falls, where she worked for Dr. Patterson. She remained there for over 30 years, retiring when she was 80 years old. Left to cherish her memory is daughter, Sandi Barringer of Ocheyedan, Iowa, two sons, Robert (Debbie) Wood of Bismarck, ND, and Joe Wood of Idaho Falls; one sister, Lorraine (Donald) of Powell, Wyoming; four grandchildren, seven Great Grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son-in-law (Dean), two brothers, Edwin and Alvin, a sister-in-law, Charlotte, and her parents.
