Born April 13, 1924 in New Leipzig, North Dakota, to Elizabeth (Holhalter) and John Frey. She was 9th of 13 children. At age six, her family moved from New Leipzig to the Spokane Valley. Viola married Raymond C. Evans in 1943. Raymond and Viola were married for 57 years. They have four children: Elizabeth "Raenette" (Mike) Sparlin, Douglas, Danny C. (Linda), Pamela (George) Roybal. Viola has seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind a sister Olivia and brother Johnny. Viola worked for Eastern State Hospital for several years, until her retirement in 1989. Viola loved flowers. She was an avid gardener, she also loved to sew and do crafts. Her passion was her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Raymond; granddaughter Karla Sue and several of her siblings. Viola was greatly loved by her family and will never be forgotten. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am, on January 9, 2016, at Redeemer Lutheral Church, 3606 S. Schafer Rd. He married Mary Martin in 1952, and worked as a carpenter for many years. Mr. Frey moved to the Coeur d'Alene area in 1977. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Around 1958 she stared working at the Crescent Dept store. She was preceded in death by a son, Eddie, and two daughters, Esther Weigel and Elizabeth Drake. She later helped on the family farm in Harvey for a few years and then when she was 20 moved to Great Falls, Montana. Marlys was once married to Charles Blanchard. Marlys lived in Michigan for a few years and in 1975, moved back to Minot where she worked for the Ramada Inn for over 25 years. Marlys married Richard Brockell in 1983. Richard passed away shortly after their marriage from an accidental fall. Marlys’s grandchildren were the love of her life. She enjoyed the Norsk Hostfest, especially Bjoro Haaland, shopping at the mall, visiting friends and cross stitching. Survivors: son, Bryon Blanchard; daughters, Christine Blanchard, Donna Patzner and Melody Johnson; four grandchildren; sisters, Laura Leibelt and June Sreitz. Tremblay in Hays. He died in 2008. She was a data clerk for Trego County-Lemke Memorial Hospital until her retirement in 1994. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays, former member of Christ the King Catholic Church in WaKeeney, and was a member of the Altar Society Christian Mothers, the Red Hats, and the TCLMH Auxiliary, all of WaKeeney. She loved sewing and quilting, going to auctions, and spending time with her grandchildren and attending their sporting events. Survivors include two daughters, Jenifer Munoz and husband Jesus of St. Robert, MO, and Julie Dinkel and husband Mark of Garden City, Kansas, four sisters, Lily Meier and Mary Ann Doerfler of Hays, Joanne Steinert and husband Sid of Munjor, KS, and Darlene Pfannenstiel of Shawnee Mission, KS, seven grandchildren, Ellie Stansbury and husband Shaun, Gretchen Albert, Kaitlin Albert, Nicholas Munoz, Alexander Munoz, Seth Dinkel and Sally Dinkel, son in law Jeff Albert of Smith Center, KS, and a sister in law Peggy Dinkel of Englewood, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leo, daughter Joan Albert, brother Kenneth Dinkel, and a sister Patricia Brungardt. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays. Burial will be in the Kansas Veterans Cemetery in WaKeeney.
