Bertha Elizabeth Wohl daughter of Johanas and Christina (Dockter) Wohl was born October 17, 1919 rural Linton, ND. She grew up and attended rural school. Bertha married Philip Just October 15, 1937 rural Wishek, ND. They farmed 17 miles SW of Wishek, ND. In 1956 they moved to Bismarck and lived there until December of 1968 when Philip died. From 2001 until 2008 Bertha lived in Anoka, MN and Moorhead, MN. Bertha moved to the Strasburg Nursing Home in 2008 and resided there until her death. Bertha enjoyed gardening, sing-alongs, reading the Bible and entertaining her friends. She was a member of the Bismarck Seventh-Day Adventist Church since 1961. Bertha died Saturday, April 16, 2011 at the Strasburg Nursing Home at Strasburg, ND. She was 91 years old. Bertha is survived by one daughter, Shirline (Gary) Lavelle; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. (Epp) Nuss, 79, of Grand Island, formerly of Hampton and Aurora, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, at Tiffany Square. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Hampton. The Rev. Jim Gruber will officiate. Interment will be in the Hampton Cemetery. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Eloris L. (Epp) Nuss, the daughter of Lucinda (Peter) and Henry H. Epp, was born in rural Henderson, Neb., on May 24, 1934, and passed away in Grand Island, Neb., on Feb. 11, 2014, at the age of 79. Eloris grew up in Henderson. She attended school in Henderson through the 3rd grade. The family then moved to Hampton. Eloris attended the public school for one year and then went to the parochial school through the 8th grade. She graduated from Hampton High School in 1952. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Hampton. After graduation, Eloris worked for an attorney in Lincoln. Following that, she went to work for the Civil Air Patrol and the telephone company. She then worked at the Inez Restaurant in Aurora, York Manufacturing (later Hy-Mark Industries), Lou's Machine Shop in Henderson, Neb., Nevada Manufacturing in Hampton and worked for Hamilton Telecommunication in the Relay Division in Aurora until she retired. Eloris was united in marriage to William S. Boyden on Nov. 22, 1953. On March 8, 1968, she was united in marriage to Donald Arthur Nuss at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York. Donald passed away on Feb. 9, 1992. Eloris was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church at Hampton. She sang in the church choir, was a member of the Ladies Missionary Group, American Legion Auxiliary, 8 & 40 and Navy Mothers. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and family. She enjoyed going to her grandchildren's many activities and birthday celebrations. She enjoyed going to garage sales and doing crossword puzzles. Daily devotions were a very important part of her life. Mom was always there to help. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Those who remain to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Randyce (Russ) Peard of Phillips and Chandra (Chuck) Sepers of Lawrence, Kan.; son, Kelly (Julie) Boyden of York; seven grandchildren, Andy (Shannon) Peard of Phillips, Chrissy Peard of Phillips, Ben Peard of Lincoln, Josh (Sarah) Boyden of York, Michelle Boyden of York, Nic Boyden of Cambridge and Bryce Tibke of Lawrence, Kan.; four great-grandchildren, Trevor and Levi Peard of Phillips, Miley and Mason Boyden of York; two brothers, Rodney Epp of Augusta, Kan., and ElRoy (Barb) Epp of Grand Island; two sisters, CoraLee Ashbaugh of York and LeeAnn McGregor of York; and extended family and many friends. | Epp, Elois L. A Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, at the Bismarck Funeral Home. Burial will be at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery. Gordon was born Oct. 22, 1930, in Killdeer, to Edward and Edna (Heihn) Keller. The family lived in the Killdeer area for a time until moving to Beulah. After school, Gordon joined the North Dakota National Guard and in 1951 was called to active duty and sent to Korea. Gordon served as a Light Weapons Infantry Leader while assigned to the 19th Infantry Regiment. Gordon earned the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantry Badge, Korean Service Medal with two Bronze campaign stars and the UN Service Medal. He was a life member of VFW Post 1326 and American Legion Post 90. After his service, Gordon returned to North Dakota and married Daphne Broeckel on July 14, 1956. They made their home in Bismarck. Gordon went to school and became an electrician and worked for numerous electrical companies in the area. Gordon was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 714 for over 50 years. Gordon worked in many of the power plants and in 1974 moved his family to Center. They lived in Center until poor health forced them to move to Bismarck in 2007. Daphne passed away in November 2007. Gordon moved into the Elm Crest Nursing home in May of 2010. Gordon loved the outdoors, especially fishing and deer hunting. Gordon is survived by his sons, Wallace (Becky), Bismarck, and Mark ( Michelle), Bismarck; and daughter, Patsy Riley, Washington; five brothers; two sisters; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Gordon was preceded in death by his wife, Daphne; his daughter, Lynne; his parents, Edward and Edna; three brothers, Wallace, Edwin and Douglas; and one grandson, Christopher.
