Clara Kitzman, 91, passed away Sunday, October 26, 2014, in Wiggins. She was born July 24, 1923, to Jacob and Katherine (Geisick) Rohn at Ault, Colorado. Clara was one of eight children.
She attended Ashton School until the 8th grade. Clara lived in Weld County until her family moved to Wiggins in 1942. She met her husband, Ted Kitzman, at the Hoyt dance. He proceeded to ask her out and wanted to know where she lived. She told him, but it was not to her house, but to the labor house. He drove around the mile-section line that week looking for her house. He checked it out before the date and arrived at her home for the date. Her mom told her since she accepted the date she needed to go get ready to go out. They were married December 9, 1948.
Clara enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, and her flowers. She learned to prepare a meal at an early age and was an excellent baker and cook. She enjoyed raising chickens, ducks, and geese. Something happened to one of her geese after it had hatched her eggs, so she raised these geese and they would follow her to the lawn to eat and at night they would follow her back to the chicken house.
She added support for the family by selling eggs to the school and surrounding area families, and cream to the creamery in Fort Morgan. During beet harvest, she would load trucks under the beet harvester. Dad thought she was the best driver that he ever had to load the beets.
Her family was an important priority in her life; children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was looking forward to another set of twins in the family.
Clara is survived by her husband, Ted Kitzman, Wiggins, 5 children: Yvonne Smith (Ron), Greeley, Ted Kitzman (Lori), Wiggins, Marilyn Thomas (Raymond), Wiggins, Edward Kitzman (Dorothy), Fort Morgan, and Kenneth Kitzman (Camilla), Wiggins; 2 sisters, Edith Ewertz, Wiggins, and Darlene Kobobel, Windsor, 1 brother, Roland Rohn, Wiggins, 16 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 grandsons, Rusty Thomas, Edward Kitzman, and Matthew Kitzman and one granddaughter-in-law, Mandy Thomas, 4 brothers, Jake, Henry, Raymond, and Eddie Rohn.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 29, 2014 from 5-7 PM at Heer Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan. The Funeral Service will be held Thursday, October 30, 2014 at the Wiggins Community Church in Wiggins, Colorado, at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Fort Morgan.

Lawrence Pfau, 86, Minot, died Monday, October 27, 2014 in his home.
Lawrence was born July 24, 1928, to Albert and Lucille (Zimmerman) Pfau in Rugby, ND. He grew up on the family farm located near Upham, ND and attended country school in his youth. Lawrence completed his high school education at Minot Model High School in 1946.
During his senior year as elected homecoming king, Lawrence began dating the homecoming queen, Vera Rogers. This union would be blessed with marriage on October 8, 1950 in Minot.
Lawrence went into the US Army on February 14, 1951 and was stationed stateside in Texas and later in England until his honorable discharge on February 18, 1953. As a couple, they returned to the family farm following his military service until moving to Minot later that year.
Lawrence began his working years as a sheet metal worker, opting to purchase the company during his tenure. He operated the business for a couple of years and then turned his focus to racing and mechanic work for Westlie Motor Company in the late 1950’s and early 1960’s.
Lawrence loved racing his #83 at the Nodak Speedway in Minot and surrounding racing circuit for many years. In 1989 he was inducted to the Nodak Racing Club Hall of Fame for his racing success and dedication to the sport over the years.
Flying became Lawrence’s passion for the remainder of his life. He earned his A&P certification and began working for Pietsch Flying Service as a mechanic. Lawrence earned his private and commercial pilot’s licenses serving the company as a pilot and mechanic until his retirement in 1992.

He enjoyed traveling to visit family and occasionally took the time to wet a line fishing or fix a broken toy for his children. Lawrence will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather and trusted friend to all who shared in his life.
