| 122725 | www.findagrave.com: www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=137799442 David Curtis (Curt) Brockel passed away on the morning of Thursday, October 23, 2014 at the Rosebud Healthcare Center in Forsyth, Montana after a brief illness. Curt was 60 years old. Curt was born at Rosebud Community Hospital on September 2, 1954 to Leonard and Clara Ida (Waltz) Brockel. Curt attended schools in Forsyth, graduating from Forsyth High School in 1972. He remained in Forsyth, began employment with the Bentonite plant in Vananda and was subsequently employed by Rosebud Mine in Colstrip (Western Energy) as an electrician. In 2009, he was promoted to Electrical Supervisor, Western Energy Company-Rosebud Mine, a subsidiary of Westmoreland Coal Company, in a career that in 2014 celebrated forty years. Workplace safety was a priority with Curt. Curt and his crew were honored to share with the other miners the National Mining Association’s Sentinels of Safety Award presented to Western Energy for winner in the category of Large Surface Coal Group for its outstanding safety record in 2011 (605,799 employee hours worked without a lost workday injury). Curt was an active member of WMEA (Western Mining Electrical Association). Curt developed an early interest in cars while working at a service station in high school and enjoyed drag racing his ’69 Camaro. This love of drag racing led to his avid following and attendance at NASCAR and other drag-racing events. Curt enjoyed additional outdoor activities such as camping and hiking with his boys, fishing, hunting and gardening. Curt’s love of cooking, barbecuing, and developing microbrews was enjoyed by his friends and family. He recently became a storm spotter for the National Weather Service. To his friends and family, his passion for “the Griz” is legendary — at sunrise on game day, the flag went out in front of his house. His preferred wardrobe choice was Griz gear; his love of the game was evident to all who knew and loved him. Curt was known for his mischievous smile, good nature and for being a good father and neighbor. He was a regular blood donor, and in death, an organ donor. One of the things that his many friends will miss is his dry wit. He had a deep love of nature and of animals, especially his forever friend, golden retriever, Lucy. Curt was preceded in death by his parents. Curt is survived by his wife Dawn, four sons, Jeremy, Justin, Damien (Sarah), Cameron, and stepdaughter Deanna (Jake) Stevenson; grandchildren Colter, Mikaela, Alex, Caleb, Kyla and one great-grandchild Kassie. He is also survived by his sisters Sharon Wortman, Arlene Brockel, Terri Brockel and an uncle Gottlieb Peter Brockel. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Rosebud Mine Scholarship Fund c/o Marti Murphy at P.O. Box 99 Colstrip, MT 59323. | 122739 | www.findagrave.com: www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=137888771 Christopher Wade "Whitey" Kilian, 56, of Mesa, Arizona, formerly of Russell, Kansas, moved to Heaven on Friday, October 10, 2014, at 4:20pm. Whitey was born in Russell, Kansas, on May 16, 1958, and was the fifth of six children born to Donald Lee and Mary Ann Kilian. Whitey got his name early in life from his dad, a reference to his white blonde hair and the movie “Boys Town”. He played football in high school and played baritone in the band program. Whitey lived his first 30 or so years in Russell, Kansas. He worked as a pumper for Mai Oil Operations and spent many weekends laughing with friends at the infamous Green Lantern Tavern. Whitey married Angelia Rhodes in 1988 and helped raise Angelia's three children, Carla, Bobby and Stephanie, for the twelve years he was married. After the oil industry crashed, Whitey decided to open his own bar, affectionately called "Whitey's". And . . . anyone who passed through Russell during that time knew the place. Whitey then traded the cold weather of Kansas for the warm sunshine of Mesa, Arizona, where he remained for the rest of his life. He managed All Pro Transmission for many years and spent his weekends with friends at Mr. B's, the American Legion, and Mad Dog Saloon. Whitey was an avid sports guy. He loved all sports, especially the Kansas City Royals, the Kansas City Chiefs, and the Kansas Jayhawks. He also loved to golf with friends every weekend. Whitey was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in May, 2014. Whitey fought a hard fight against the disease but never lost his sense of humor or his love for his family and friends. Whitey was preceded in death by his loving mother Mary Kilian. Survivors include: Donald, father; two sisters, Sheila Verbraken, husband Michael of Mesa, AZ, and Sonya Voorhies, husband, Rick of Show Low, AZ; 3 brothers, Sam, wife Cheryl of Russell, KS, Donald Jr. partner, Carla Cotton of Independence, MO., Dwight Kilian, wife, Sandy of Phoenix, AZ.; his step children, Carla, Bobby and Stephanie; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his many, many, many friends. Whitey was a loving son, brother, uncle, step dad, football player, baritone player, Russell native, Mesa transplant, oil pumper, and transmission shop manager. But mostly, Whitey was a great friend to everyone. A celebration of Whitey's life will be held at 2 P.M. on Saturday, November 1, 2014, at the St. John Lutheran Church in Russell, with Pastor Roger Dennis officiating. Cremation has preceded the service and burial of the cremains will follow at the St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Russell. | Kilian, Christopher Wade (I153600)

| 122745 | www.findagrave.com: www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=137938229 Clara Kitzman, 91, passed away Sunday, October 26, 2014, in Wiggins. She was born July 24, 1923, to Jacob and Katherine (Geisick) Rohn at Ault, Colorado. Clara was one of eight children. She attended Ashton School until the 8th grade. Clara lived in Weld County until her family moved to Wiggins in 1942. She met her husband, Ted Kitzman, at the Hoyt dance. He proceeded to ask her out and wanted to know where she lived. She told him, but it was not to her house, but to the labor house. He drove around the mile-section line that week looking for her house. He checked it out before the date and arrived at her home for the date. Her mom told her since she accepted the date she needed to go get ready to go out. They were married December 9, 1948. Clara enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, and her flowers. She learned to prepare a meal at an early age and was an excellent baker and cook. She enjoyed raising chickens, ducks, and geese. Something happened to one of her geese after it had hatched her eggs, so she raised these geese and they would follow her to the lawn to eat and at night they would follow her back to the chicken house. She added support for the family by selling eggs to the school and surrounding area families, and cream to the creamery in Fort Morgan. During beet harvest, she would load trucks under the beet harvester. Dad thought she was the best driver that he ever had to load the beets. Her family was an important priority in her life; children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was looking forward to another set of twins in the family. Clara is survived by her husband, Ted Kitzman, Wiggins, 5 children: Yvonne Smith (Ron), Greeley, Ted Kitzman (Lori), Wiggins, Marilyn Thomas (Raymond), Wiggins, Edward Kitzman (Dorothy), Fort Morgan, and Kenneth Kitzman (Camilla), Wiggins; 2 sisters, Edith Ewertz, Wiggins, and Darlene Kobobel, Windsor, 1 brother, Roland Rohn, Wiggins, 16 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 grandsons, Rusty Thomas, Edward Kitzman, and Matthew Kitzman and one granddaughter-in-law, Mandy Thomas, 4 brothers, Jake, Henry, Raymond, and Eddie Rohn. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 29, 2014 from 5-7 PM at Heer Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan. The Funeral Service will be held Thursday, October 30, 2014 at the Wiggins Community Church in Wiggins, Colorado, at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Fort Morgan. | Rohn, Clara (I157898)
