| 132543 | www.findagrave.com: www.findagrave.com/memorial/139562483/joy-laurene-gallagher A Mass of Christian Burial for Joy Gallagher, age 89, of O’Neill, will be at 10:30 A.M., Friday, December 5, 2014, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in O’Neill, with burial in the O’Neill Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, December 4, 2014, from 5-8 P.M., with a 7:00 P.M. Rosary at Biglin’s Mortuary in O’Neill. Joy passed away early Monday morning, December 1, 2014, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk. Memorials may be made to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Mick, son Tim Gallagher and wife Zelda of Inman, NE, daughter Jackie Triplett of Grand Prairie, TX, 6 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren, 1 sister-in-law, Dee Moore, of O’Neill, NE, and many nieces and nephews. Joy Laurene Gallagher was born November 6, 1925, in Sioux City, IA, to Fred and Emma (Zimbleman) Moore. When she was eight years old, her family moved to Inman, where she graduated from Inman High School in 1943. After graduating high school, she worked in the Register of Deeds office in the Holt County Courthouse. On February 14, 1949, she was united in marriage to Michael “Mick” Gallagher. They lived in rural Inman on the Gallagher ranch before moving to O’Neill in 1973. Mick and Joy raised their two children, Tim and Jackie, on the family ranch. Joy was a contributing part of the success of the ranching life she lived with her husband. She developed those skills necessary to become a supporting partner in the daily demands of the ranch life. She earned the nickname “Cookie” from the young men who worked on the hay crews for all the meals she prepared for them. She enjoyed interacting with those working around the ranch and stayed in touch with developments that took place through the years. During the time they were part owners of the O’Neill Shamrock Livestock Market, Joy added working in the office to her responsibilities of ranch life. After her move to O’Neill, Joy enjoyed visiting with her friends and her home was always open for them to drop in and share some time. She was a generous person and seldom let anyone who visited leave without something to enjoy later. Her cat, Blackie, became her constant companion and gave her much joy in her later years. As Joy became more home bound, the joy of having Blackie around became even more special to her. Joy was preceded in death by her parents, brother Kenneth Moore, and son-in-law, Louis Triplett. | Moore, Joy Laurene (I210872)

He moved to Phoenix, Ariz., with his family in the 1940s and joined the Merchant Marines during WWII. He moved to Needles, Calif., in the mid-50s where he lived for the next 60 years. There, he met Dorothy Bettger and they married on May 29, 1957. The day he passed was their 57th wedding anniversary. He welcomed her son, Gregory, and dog, Mindy, as his own, and he and Dorothy adopted two other children, Eric and Jami. They lived in several homes in the area, including the "Ranch" in Mohave Valley, the house on DeSoto for 20 years, the river property off River Road, then their present house for the past 10 years. He enjoyed riding horses, playing guitar and singing. After working as a teacher, coach and administrator in the Needles schools for over 30 years, he became a Methodist pastor and served several churches in the Needles and Mohave Valley area.
