Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday March 25, 2016, at Hope Reformed Church in Sutton, NE with Rev. Darrell Kingswood officiating. Interment will follow the service at the Sutton Cemetery. Marie was born December 3, 1925, to Theodore & Lydia (Griess) Ehly at the Henderson Community Hospital in York County Nebraska. She was baptized and confirmed at the Free German Reformed Salem church in Fillmore County. Marie married Theo M Schroetlin on January 18, 1949, in Geneva NE. Marie and Ted moved to Hastings after their marriage before moving to Sutton in 1950, where she lived until her passing. To this union four sons were born: Steven, Alan, Gary and Michael. Marie worked various retail positions before becoming a homemaker and mother to her family. Marie grew up on the family farm and was blessed with many brothers and sisters. She always said that growing up during the Depression Era was difficult. Her mother passed away when Marie was 16 years old, she left school at an early age to help out on the farm. She would tell stories of looking forward to Saturday nights because if they were lucky they got to go to town to watch a movie and would be given a nickel for candy. Marie, along with her sisters and brothers would gather around the piano and sing in the evenings and read from the Bible. Marie learned to play the piano and guitar by ear and carried a tune with her throughout her life. Never being able to read sheet music, she could chord the piano and strum the guitar by heart. This talent carried her to form a quartet later in years with her sisters, Johanna, Salome and Leota. The "Ehly Sisters" would sing for local gatherings and events for many years. She really enjoyed sing-a-longs and family gatherings. All of her kids and grandkids knew that no presents would be opened until Christmas carols were sung, with one of their favorites being Stille Nacht. Marie enjoyed playing cards and going on camping trips with Ted and the family. She would keep the camper and picnic areas in tact while Ted would go off fishing. Their favorite activity was just going out to Norm's sand pit and spending time with family and friends, which usually ended up with some kind of singing around the campfire. After Ted passed away Marie enjoyed time at home when kids and grandkids would come visit. Playing cards and games on Sunday afternoons was something she looked forward to. Always thinking of others first, she rarely missed sending birthday and get well cards to family and friends. She loved to visit with others and kept the family informed of friends and family far off. To describe Marie would be that she was a hard working, loving mother and Grandmother, with a caring and kind soft heart. Faithful to her Lord and Saviour, Marie always wanted what was best for others. She enjoyed life to the fullest and leaves everyone that knew her with many happy memories that can be shared with everyone that knew her for years to come. Marie was a 60 year member of the Sutton American Legion Auxiliary and also belonged to the Sutton Community Home Auxiliary for many years. She is survived by her sons, Steven (Linda) Schroetlin of Sutton NE; Alan (Pam) Schroetlin of Sutton, NE; Gary (Bonny) Schroetlin of Lincoln, NE; Michael (Melissa) Schroetlin of Sutton, NE; granddaughters, Stephanie (Curt) Oie; Robin (Dave) Johnson; Kylie Schroetlin; grandsons, Ryan (Shirley) Schroetlin; Jeff (Holly) Schroetlin; Chad (Angie) Schroetlin; Timothy Schroetlin; Scott Schroetlin; Quinn Schroetlin step-grandson, Michael (Rachel) Glasscock; step-granddaughters, Amberly (Eric) Huntzeker; Chastity Schmer; Christine (Jason) Light; 22 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Brothers, Harold; Eph; Dave; Don; Marv; Milt; sisters, Salome; Leota; Lydia; Gertie; and numerous nephews, nieces and a lifetime of friends and family. She will be sadly missed by her husband, David Zimpleman; her son, Dustin, and daughter, Kadee; her mother, Kathryn Louise; her siblings, Mary, Maria, Rose, Alex, John (wife, Bridget), and Walter (wife, Megan); her nephews, Kenny, Brent, Jakob and Jared; her nieces, Jessica, Gabrielle, Nikita and Kiera; mother and father-in-law, Sharon and Bill Zimpleman; brother-in-law, Tom Zimpleman, and aunt and uncle, Pauline and Francis Hoopes. Kathleen was preceded in death by her father, John T. Kotuba; brother, Thomas Kotuba; sister, Faith Kotuba; niece, Charity Flecher, and brother-in-law, Scott Newton. Kathleen was a loving and compassionate person who easily forgave and loved tremendously. She passed those gifts on to her children. Eugene was born March 19, 1922, in McClusky, the son of Carl and Lydia (Rosenau) Wahl. He married Mary Baron on March 19, 1948, in McClusky and later moved to Bismarck. Mary died in 1991. Eugene worked at Big River Oil, Anderson Guthrie Carlson Contractors and Bailey Construction up until his retirement. He enjoyed camping, fishing and all outdoor activities. He was active in his church choir, Boy Scouts, University of Mary ""M'' Club, and a volunteer usher at the Civic Center. Eugene was a member of Bismarck Elks Club and United Commercial Travelers. He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Vicky and Jeff Hammel, Bismarck; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Daryl and Corgene Wahl, Bismarck, Kenneth Wahl and Kaye Tenderholt, Williston, and Clark and Brenda Wahl, Bismarck; his grandchildren, Torrey, Todd, Tommy, Tucker and Amber Wahl, and Heather and Terra Hammel; his great-grandchildren, Tyler, Madison, Kelsie and Kylie Wahl; one sister and brother-in-law, Bernice and Kenneth Schauble, San Jose, Calif.; and one brother, Wesley Wahl, Redondo Beach, Calif. Mr. Adam was born on Feb. 2, 1938, south of Ravenna to James and Katherine (Chramosta) Adam. He graduated from Ravenna High School in 1956. He married Ona Mae Prochaska on May 3, 1960, at St. Wenceslaus. The couple lived south of Ravenna on the family home place. Mr. Adam worked at New Holland in Grand Island for 30 years. He was a member of the Czech Trio and many other local bands. He received the FFA Band Award in 1957 in Kansas City. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Grand Island Eagles Club and the Local 777 Musicians Union. Survivors include his wife; one son, William James Adam of Gibbon; and one daughter, Judeen (Mrs. Andy) Terrey of Phoenix.
