She was born on Feb. 4, 1926 to Ernest and Lydia Edinger in New Rockford, ND. At the age of 5, her family moved to Ridgefield, WA. Gertrude married Warren Worthington on Sept. 20, 1946 and continued to live out her days in the home that they began their married life in. She was an active member of her church; played piano and organ up to the age of 90, taught Sunday School, led bible studies and enjoyed the fellowship of her many friends. Gertrude enjoyed playing table games and doing crossword/sudoku puzzles. She had belonged to the Sweet Adeline Singers since 1982. Gertrude is survived by her 5 children: Dennis (wife Becky), Don (wife Brenda), Carolyn Moore (husband Jim), Cathy Young, Carla Palmer (husband Dave); 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and sisters, Glenys Worthington, Delores Habersetzer and Tina Mattson. She was preceded in death by her husband. A viewing will be held Fri., Nov. 23, from 2-7 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, Hamilton and Stone Park Blvd., with the Rev. Lee Williamson officiating. Burial will be in Holly Springs Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home. Minnie was born June 16, 1904, in Hornick, Iowa, the daughter of Charles S. and Gusta (Neuhart) Clayton. In 1909, her family moved to White Lake, S.D., where her father worked as an insurance and real estate agent. In 1912, they returned to Hornick and ran the hotel in Hornick, which was owned by her uncle, Clint, for two years. In 1914, the family moved to a farm in western Pipestone County, Minn., where her father died in 1915. In 1931, her mother and family moved to a farm south of Sergeant Bluff. After her mother died in 1941, she went to work for Bob and Mattie Neustrom on a farm south of Moville, Iowa. In 1961, she moved to Sioux City and worked at the Methodist Hospital in the housekeeping department until retiring in 1972. She was a member of Crescent Park United Methodist Church. She is survived by her nieces and nephews, including her caregiver for the past several years, Darlene McCreary. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, True Clayton, Lester Clayton and Wilbur Clayton; and a sister, Esther (Clayton) Eberle. | Clayton, Minnie Louise (I183494)

Visitation will be held 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Sunday, June 21, 2015 at the church with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa. Irene Mary was born January 25, 1919 in Holly Springs, Iowa, the daughter of Louis and Anna (Egger) Sulsberger. She attended Holly Springs High School and the National Business School in Sioux City, Iowa. Irene and Milton Smith were united in marriage on May 10, 1941. To this union, six children were born. She served as a mail carrier and the postmaster at Hornick for many years. She loved to dance, play cards, and work in her yard. She was the oldest resident of Hornick. She and Milton enjoyed the Holiday Rambler's Camping Group for many years. She was a member of the Hornick United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, and the Hornick Lunch Bunch. Survivors include five children, Garold (Deanna) Smith of Salix, IA, Bill (Pat) Smith of Hornick, IA, Connie Goodwin of Sioux City, IA, Dennis (Patty) Smith of Onawa, IA, and Diana Brink of Omaha, NE; fourteen grandchildren; and twenty great-grandchildren. For 38 years he worked for the Iowa Department of Transportation. He was a member of Hindman-Steele American Legion Post #492 at Hornick for 45 years and served on the Hornick Fire Department for 40 years. Survivors include: his wife, Julia; 1 daughter, Kay Bertrand of Hornick; and 2 grandchildren, Tracy and Tony Bertrand of Hornick. He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 children. Services were held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, November 13, 1991, in the United Methodist Church at Hornick with Rev. Karen Dearchs officiating. The organist, Mrs. Lael Steinhoff, accompanied Jack Steinhoff, in the selection “How Great Thou Art”. Bearers were Ed Nelson, Warren Plummer, Jim Castle, Bob Hummel, Gayle Murrell and Richard Hanner. Interment was in Memorial Park Cemetery at Sioux City, Iowa, with Military Flag Presentation by Hindman-Steele American Legion Post #492 of Hornick, Iowa, Ron Kerr, Commander. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of the Gierhart and Wells Funeral Home with Rev. H. Wesley Roloff of the Salem Evangelical United Brethren Church officiating.
