Theodore’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Friday, April 28, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Fr. Keith Streifel as the celebrant. Military honors will be provided by the Dickinson American Legion Post 3 Honor Guard. Interment will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be on Thursday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, with a rosary and vigil at 7 p.m. with Deacon Dallas Carlson presiding. Ted was born January 3, 1924, and grew up farming and ranching with his parents Carl and Monica (Obrigewitsch) Hecker and their large family west of Dickinson. He served honorably in the United States Army from November 14, 1945 to December 9, 1946. He left farming and lived and worked in Center, with his Texan wife Lillian, and her little dog, who preceded him in death. He later moved to Dickinson. He had a woman friend for many years. They danced and he cared for her until his untimely fall which was the beginning of the end. He wanted to live to be 100 but after living shortly at the nursing home he decided better of it. He leaves behind two sisters, a couple old cowboy brothers, gaggles of nieces and nephews. He was born Feb. 9, 1928, in Winona, the son of Robert B. & Estella M. Thouvenell Hooker. He was a 1946 graduate of Winona High School, a 1951 graduate of Fort Hays State University, with a degree in math and science, and had attended Wichita State University. A resident of Hutchinson since 2004, formerly of Oakley, he was a draftsman and engineer for Boeing Aircraft in Wichita before purchasing the Chevrolet-Oldsmobile Dealership in Oakley in 1962. He belonged to First United Methodist Church, of Hutchinson and Oakley, was on the board of directors for the Farmers State Bank of Oakley for 18 years, was a member Oakley Masonic Lodge No. 253, Oakley Shriners, served on Oakley City Council, past commander of the Oakley Veterans of Foreign Wars, and was a charter member of the Oakley Trap Club. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. On Feb. 9, 1952, he married Phyllis J. Gales [nee Goetz]. She survives. Other survivors include: three sons, Robert and wife, Taronda, Hutchinson, Breck, Hays, and Paul and wife, Leanne, Spring Hill; a sister, Mary Carlson and husband, Kendall, Assaria; and five grandchildren, Garrett, Jonathan, Sarah, Matthew and Jake. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church, Hutchinson, with Chaplain Frederick J. Obold presiding. Visitation is from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. Graveside rites and honors conducted by the Hutchinson-Reno Masonic Lodge No. 124, A.F. and A.M. and the Fort Riley Honor Guard. Louie was born in Peace Township Tappen, ND, on July 20, 1922, the son of Anthony and Frances Chmielewski. Louie was raised and educated at a rural school close to the family farm. Louie married Irene Oster and rented a farm until they later moved to his dad’s farm. Upon the passing of Irene he married Julie (Masseth) Rouse, and they continued to farm until 1982. They then retired and moved to Bismarck, where he took up woodworking. He also enjoyed pinochle, rummage sales, and other hobbies that kept him busy. Shortly after the passing of Julie he married Alice (Spangenberger) Fuchs, they resided at their Bismarck residence until his passing. Louie had prized possessions such as a 1929 Ford Model A pickup, several home built snow planes and various antiques. He was also an avid "no weed" gardener. He will be missed for his sense of humor and generosity. He is survived by his wife, Alice; the children of Louie and Irene, Lavern (George) Walls, Dale (Kathy), Alan (Kathy), and Steven (Connie); The children of Julie, Barb (Larry) Rueb, Richard, Robert (Brenda), and Michael Rouse; The children of Alice, Gary (Nancy), Ron (Jolette) Fuchs, and Bonnie (Jim) Wingenbach; His sister, Irene Sprague; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Memorial service is Saturday, April 5, at 11 a.m., at the Choteau Baptist Church. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Gorder Funeral Home of Choteau. Memorials are suggested to the Shriner's Hospital in Spokane, Wash., the Scottish Rite speech Clinic in Great Falls or the Choteau Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Barbara (Bray), of 29 years; sons Jim (Denise) Brandner of Chehalis, Wash., Ron (Linda) Brandner of Connell, Wash., Dan (Peggy) Brandner of Great Falls, Paul (Sarah) Bray of Billings, John (Lacey) Bray of Kent, Wash. He is also survived by brother Ron (Ilene) Brandner of Klamath Falls, Ore.; sister Pat Beck of Grants Pass, Ore.; brother Richard (Hope) Brandner of Atlanta; sister Karen "Tootie" (Gary) Marks of Lewistown. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Irene and Emil Brandner of Fallon; and sisters, Nadine Waters of San Antonio, Texas, and Betty Turner of Minneapolis. Born March 28, 1927, he was the first of seven brothers and sisters and was fondly remembered and known by the nickname of "Popeye" in the communities of Fallon and Terry, where he was raised. He enlisted in the Army in 1945 and spent 18 months deployed in Panama, where he reached the grade of Staff Sergeant before separating from the service in 1946. He married Alice Babcock of Miles City in 1947 and moved to Great Falls, where he worked for City Motors as a mechanic until 1951. Jim also worked for Rice Trucking in the '50s and early '60s. He then went to work for Kernaghans Tire Service Inc. until 1970. Jim joined the Moose Lodge in 1949, worked his way all the way up through the ranks and served as state Governor for the Moose Lodge five times and earned the coveted Pilgrims Degree and was a lifetime member. Jim was very active in the Masonic Temple; Scottish Rite and Eastern Star and he was involved with the Baptist Church in Choteau and enjoyed weekly bible study groups, where he and Barb opened their doors of their home socializing with their Christian family members. Jim also worked as a salesman on the road in the '70s, working for American Life as a state representative; he sold Pyramid Health and Life insurance. Jim married the love of his life, Barbara Bray, in Choteau in 1979, moving there, making Choteau his home. Jim started his own contracting business and worked in the community until retiring in 1992. After retiring in 1992, Jim enjoyed working for Ottis Bryant on his ranch and loved running farm equipment baling hay. When asked what his greatest accomplishments were, Jim replied, "I think that my proudest accomplishments are all my kids, grandkids and great-grandkids." Karen passed away after a brief battle with cancer at the age of 66. She was born April 7, 1951, in Lexington, Nebraska. Karen moved to Boise when she was 4 years old. Karen attended Borah High School where she graduated with the class of 1969. After graduation Karen went to work for the Idaho Statesman as a salesperson working in Display Advertising, winning numerous awards for her work. Karen later moved to Seattle, resuming her career in Advertising. In 1990 Karen met and married Michael Rhodes. She became a loving stepmother to his children, Mike, Jason, and Kristy. After living some years in Seattle they decided to return home to Boise, where she resumed her career at the Idaho Statesman until her retirement. Karen loved spending time with her friends and family. She enjoyed a special relationship with her brother Tim. She looked forward to sisters weekends at least 2 to 3 times a year, camping with her husband Mike in the mountains, and her trips to Disney World and Mexico. Karen was an avid reader and enjoyed working in her yard while listening to the birds in the morning. She loved watching old movies while eating popcorn and chocolate. Karen developed many lifelong friendships. She would make you smile when she walked into the room. Everyone loved Karen for her ability to listen to others and never judge. She truly was special to all who knew her and loved her. Karen was preceded in death by her mother Dorothy Bullock and father Laverne Bullock. She is survived by her husband Michael Rhodes, stepchildren, Mike (Jenny) Rhodes, Jason Rhodes, Kristy Rhodes, 5 step grandchildren, Brittany, Zach, Dusty, Sandy and Nick, 3 sisters, Teresa (Bob) Olson, Jean (Doug ) Keith, Tracie (Steve) Eddy, and a brother, Tim Bullock, and numerous nieces and nephews.
