Harry J. BAILEY officiating. Burial will be in Round Lake cemetery, near Grass Creek. Spencer, who was employed at an A & P. grocery and market at 3021 Mishawaka avenue, South Bend, died Monday, shortly after noon, from loss of blood, following an accident two hours earlier when a knife with which he was boning out meat, slipped, struck him in the groin and severed an artery. Although given blood plasma, all efforts to save his life were futile. The deceased had been employed at the South Bend market since the closing of the Bendix plant where he had been employed throughout the war years as a foreman. Previous to that time he had managed local meat markets and at one time was employed by the Rochester water works department. Born in Kewanna, Jan. 27, 1902, he was the son of Adelbert and Birdie SPENCER. On Aug. 17, 1926, he was united in marriage with Nobelene BROOKER, who is now the chief clerk at the Fulton county war price and rationing board. Surviving, besides the wife, are a son James [SPENCER] and a daughter Jean Ann [SPENCER]; the mother; a brother, Neil [SPENCER], of Chicago, and two sisters, Mrs. Arthur BURNS and Mrs. Richard FRYE, both of South Bend. She had been a chief clerk of the former Fulton County War Price and Rationing Board. Surviving are a daughter, Jean Ann NIST, Pomona, Calif.; three grandchildren, Joni SULLIVAN, Rialto, Calif; Jon NIST, LaVern, Calif., and Jeffrey NIST, Whittier, Calif.; two great-grandsons, Christian PEREZ and Ryan SULLIVAN, both of Rialto, and a sister, Mildred HUDKINS, Rochester. Preceding in death were a son, Jim [SPENCER], a grandson, Joseph [NIST]; five sisters, and a brother. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Foster & Good Funeral Home, Rochester, with the Rev. Inurnment with full military honors will take place at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 18, 2010 Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD. Tim was born August 28, 1963 in Eureka, SD to Edwin and Francine (Michaelsohn) Dollinger. He was raised in rural Ashley, ND and attended school in Ashley and Zeeland. Tim enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and spent over 22 years serving his country, participating in Desert Storm, Desert Shield, War on Terrorism and Somalia. He married Susan Hacek on November 15, 1986 to this union three children were born; Samantha "Sam", Taylor "Abbey" and Jacob "Jake". Following his military career, Tim attended college and earned a bachelor's degree in engineering. At the time of his passing he was employed at MACTEC Engineering and Consulting Inc. in San Diego, CA as an engineer. He is survived by his children; Sam Dollinger of San Diego, CA, Abbey Dollinger of Appleton, WI and Jake Dollinger of Appleton, WI, his parents, Edwin Dollinger of Arizona and Francine Rutschke his siblings; Paulette Armstrong of Plano, TX, Lance (Vonnie) Dollinger of Mobridge, SD, Wanda Bjerke of Valley City, ND, Mike (Dolores) Dollinger of Belle Fourche, SD and Greg (Deb Subart) Dollinger of Pingree, ND and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The collision threw Dollinger off his motorcycle and sent him skidding along the highway. Dollinger then was struck by Thomas Williams, 44, of Irvington, N.J., who was unable to avoid him. Caldwell was born October 28, 1825, in Onandaga County, New York. She moved with her parents to Porter County, Indiana at the age of 12. She was united in marriage to James M. Curtis November 24, 1842. To this union eight children were born, four of whom, Mrs. W. F. Campbell, Mrs. Z. E. Peck, both of Palmer, L. K. Curtis of Wheatland, Wyoming, and Chas. Curtis of Callaway, Nebraska, survive her. She moved with her two sons to Merrick County, Nebraska in October 1878, where she lived until August 1904, when she with her son Chas moved to Callaway, Nebraska, where she lived at the time of her death, July 27,1915 at the age of 89 years and nine months. She was converted at the age of 16, and united with the Methodist Episcopal church, of which organization she was a consistent member for over seventy years. As the death dew gathered upon her brow her children were at her bedside to see that everything possible was done for her comfort. Through the rest of their lives the memory of her unselfish devotion will make them better men and women, and her precepts be their guiding star. Goodrich had Thursday morning, April 6th, passed away at her home in this city born with it the realization we had parted company with another of our oldest and most highly respected residents. For some time past she had been ailing, and due to her advanced age the end was not unexpected. She attained the age of 85 years, 7 months and 26 days. The deceased was born in Wayne County, New York, the 10th day of August 1830. While yet a girl, she removed with her parents to the state of Indiana. Here she met and married Calahill M. Goodrich in the year 1850. About forty-two years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Goodrich came to Nebraska to reside. Following the death of her husband, which occurred in 1889, Mrs. Goodrich chose Central City as her home and here spent the remaining days of her life. She was a charter member of the Friends church of this city, and was faithful in attendance and in the work as long as her health permitted. Her Christian beliefs she practiced in her life, and all those of our older settlers who had known her for years speak of her as possessed of a most kindly and sympathetic spirit, and willing ever to sacrifice herself in behalf of her friends.
