| 94706 | Teresa G. Baldry: Death: Beaver Creek, McIntosh County, North Dakota, U.S.a Note: Anna lived to be about four years old and was also a victim of the diptheria epidemic. She was also laid to rest with the rest of the children in the homestead plot. It was recalled that no-one dared to come to their assistance at a time like this because of the contagious effects, so the family prepared the body and dressed them and made their coffins and held their own little services alone. | Lehr, Anna (I19159)

| 94714 | Teresa G. Baldry: Death: Minot, Ward County, North Dakota www.findagrave.com: www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=65516401 Albert Pfau, 94, Minot, ND, died Friday, August 22, 2003, at a Mohall nursing home. He was born on March 18, 1909, in Upham, ND, the son of Henry and Rosina (Brandt) Pfau. He was the youngest of four sons. He attended Deep River School in rural Upham and helped with the work on his parent's farm. The romance of Albert and Lucille Zimmerman started in grade school. At that time Albert was always quite anxious to share his candy and goodies with Lucille. Apparently he never had a change of heart because on March 21, 1928, they were married in the parsonage of St. Paul's Church, rural Upham. The couple farmed the Zimmerman and Cory land in the Upham area and in 1942, Albert bought the Pfau homestead. He and Lucille raised three sons: Lawrence, Vernon, and Kenneth. The boys worked long hours on the farm and they were a very industrious family. Albert took great pride in his building and equipment. Albert and Lucille had many friends and enjoyed entertaining and visiting with them. Albert was always very good about visiting his friends when they were ill and remained a true friend in bad as well as good times. In 1963, Albert and Lucille moved to Minot. Albert continued to help on the farm during planting and harvesting. He loved the farm life and always took an avid interest in the happenings at the farm. Albert was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He took many trips to Canada with his buddies to hunt moose, elk and to fish for walleye. Albert and Lucille loved to dance and always stated that was their exercise. He was a jovial person and enjoyed his grandchildren. He like to tease them and encourage then to learn. He enjoyed family gatherings with lots of food and card playing. Albert had a stroke in 1996. Lucille cared for him at their home in Minot until she became ill with cancer. Lucille died in June of 2000; her and Albert were married for over 72 years. In 2000, Albert entered the Good Shepard Care Center in Mohall. He adjusted to life well there and the caregivers enjoyed his visiting and teasing nature. The day Albert died he ate a good breakfast and joked and visited with the other people at his table. At the noon meal he was doing fine until he became pale and had breathing problems. Within the hour he died. His family takes comfort in the fact that he did not suffer for a long period of time. Albert was a member of First Lutheran Church, Moose Lodge and the Elks Lodge #1089, all of Minot. Survivors: sons, Lawrence (Vera) Pfau, Minot, Vernon Pfau, Upham, Kenneth (Louise) Pfau, Sierra Vista, AZ; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. He was preceded in death by wife, Lucille; his parents; brothers, Edwin (Albertine), Reinhold (Ruth) and Oscar (Adeline) Pfau; and daughter-in-law, Betty Pfau. | Pfau, Albert (I170956)

| 94725 | Teresa G. Baldry: Death: vor 1900 - Beaver Creek, McIntosh County, North Dakota, U.S.a. Note: Died before the 1900 census. When she was but a toddler, she met with a most disturbing accident. Her mother had rendered some animal fat, and set it in the corner cupboard under a shelf on the floor. She set a washtub as a barricade across the front of it to be sure none of the children would have access to it. Little Amelia being curious squeezed between the tub and the cupboard, and when her legs touched the hot pot, she jumped and lost her balance and sat into the hot fat which splashed up to her waist. The pain was excruciatingly unbearable. One of the neighbors came by and suggested a healing remedy. By pouring water over unslacked lime and allowing the bubbling & boiling action to die down, then it was set to cool off. When the lime settled and the clear liguid rose, they mixed linseed oil with the clear lime water and spread this on her burns. It did, in fact, heal her burns, except for a soft spot above her hip, which would not heal. The sore went inward and eventually cost her life. They built her coffin and buried her in the corner of the honestead. | Lehr, Amelia (I19155)

The town names have nearly all been change but "Ukraine" will still be an identifying location. Rhorbach would have benn about a 3 day wagon ride north of Odessa on the North East corner of the Black Sea. | Schrötlin, Dorothea (I133430)
