Born: Seattle, King County, Washington

Jean Claire Zimbelman:
Conrad - On March 22, 2018, at age 97, Othilda 'Tillie' Irene Zimbelman's final wish was granted when she passed away at her home "Son Heaven", a wonderful, loving assisted living in Helena.
Tillie's services will be held April 5 at 1 p.m. at the Conrad Mission Church followed by internment at Hillside Cemetery. A Celebration of Life and Luncheon will follow at the church.
Tillie and a twin sister, Jean Claire, were born on May 21, 1920, in Renton, Wash., to Herman and Katherine Tronson. Her sister, Jean, passed away before her second birthday, leaving Tillie fourth of seven surviving siblings. In her early years, Tillie's family moved to Alaska, back to Renton, and eventually back to Montana, settling in the Agawam, Bynum area, where Tillie graduated from Choteau High School in 1938.
That Thanksgiving, while attending a dance, Tillie met Gilbert Zimbelman, five weeks later on New Year's Eve they were married. A marriage which lasted over 73 years. They settled on Gilbert's grandfather's homestead near Brady, where they farmed.
They were blessed with four children, twins Jerry and Jean, son Larry, and daughter Linda.
In addition to the farm, Gilbert and Tillie owned and operated Dude Ranches in Lincoln, and later in Spotted Bear. In semi-retirement, they purchased and ran a campground near Coram and West Glacier.
When they finally retired, it was to Great Falls where they lived until 2011, when they moved to East Helena to live with their daughter Jean and her husband Leroy Cyr.
Othilda's loves were her family, entertaining friends and family, playing cards, and traveling. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She was loved by all and will be missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gilbert; sisters, Edith Denzer King, Myrtle White, Rose Keller, and infant sister, Jean; her brothers, Bill, Roy and infant twin brothers.
Tillie is survived by four children, Jerry (Karlyn) Zimbelman of Conrad, Jean (Leroy) Cyr of East Helena, Larry (Beth) Zimbelman of Conrad, and Linda (Rob) Fee of Friendswood, Texas. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Herb (Fern) of Great Falls.

Harold Frank Mathies was born to Frank and Katherine Croissant Mathies on August 08, 1922. He and twin brother Elmer Ruben Mathies were born northeast of Yuma, Colorado, joining brother Walter, sisters Rosa and Martha and would finally have another brother, Howard to complete the family. Growing up on the farm, Harold loved farming, horses and cattle. The family would relocate to Benkelman, Nebraska when he was a child and that would be his home until they returned to Colorado and resided in the LeRoy community north of Otis.
Harold was always full of fun and with his twin brother loved pulling pranks because no one could tell them apart. In later life, even his grandchildren would mistake Elmer as their grandpa.
April 25, 1942, Harold married Sarah Elizabeth Spelts in Benkelman, NE. To this union, three children were born: Harold Wayne, Katherine Rose and Millie Ann.
The family lived in Yuma, CO where Harold worked as a mechanic at various garages in the area including Seedorf Motors in Yuma, Spicknalls in Akron, CO, moving for a short time to Brush Colorado and working at Noffsingers. The family moved back to Yuma and Harold worked as a diesel mechanic at B&B Implement. Changing back to auto mechanic in 1963, he moved his family to Fort Morgan and worked at the Ford dealership there but again returned to Yuma and went to work at Farm Power & Equipment until he retired. Upon retirement, Harold got himself a job farming and loved every minute of being in the country and driving tractor & combine.
Harold loved automobiles and there was nothing that he could not fix. A fine tuned engine that "purred like a kitten" and a snazzy car that sparkled like a diamond was his pride and joy. During his years as a mechanic, Harold attended school for every major auto manufacturer and also made several trips to Racine, WI to attend "J.I. Case" factory schools.
Harold was the first mechanic in Yuma to have a Sun diagnostic machine in his shop. His grandsons were amazed at the huge box full of plaques and awards that he had earned during his years of turning wrenches.
Building go carts with washing machine motors, keeping the Vespa scooter running for the kids and finally fixing up a starter car for each of them were some of the projects he loved most. A 1950 Chevrolet overhauled, painted and upholstered, a 1956 Chevrolet Bel Aire and a 1966 Ford Mustang convertible will never be forgotten.
He loved the great outdoors, hunting Elk with "Lizzy" by his side, fishing with the kids at Stalker pond or in the streams in the mountains, gardening with his family and teaching his children how to grow tomatoes in his half acre garden each spring, harvesting the vegetables and sharing with neighbors and friends was a yearly ritual.
Harold also loved to dance and even confined to a wheelchair, unable to even stand, he attended the community dance held each Tuesday afternoon at Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center where he resided the last year of his life.
After retiring for the second time, with daughter Kathy's help, Harold learned to sew. He loved the mechanics of the various sewing and embroidery machines and would tear them down and rebuild them and keep them tuned up while turning out litterly hundreds of potholders, tablecloths, napkins and finally quilts. He made baby blankets for his great grandchildren, pillows and quilts for family and friends and delighted in giving his creations to all those he loved.
He was Lizzy's loving husband for 60 years, a wonderful father to three children and their spouses, a proud grandfather of seven and great-grandfather of nine.
Harold was baptized in the Lutheran Church at an early age, was a member of St John's Lutheran church and also attended the First Church of the Nazarene for many years.
Surviving Harold are his children, Wayne (Betty) Mathies, Levelland, TX; Kathy (Gary) Link, Yuma, CO; Millie Mathies, ( Gerald Beck) Walden, CO. Grandchildren: Ronald E (Nicole) Tribbett, Greeley, Michael (Heidi) Tribbett, Sterling, Aaron Mathies, Levelland, TX, Will Ferrall, Fort Morgan, Amber (Nick) Lakatos, Rathdrum, ID, Courtney Ferrall, Laramie, WY and Rona (Todd) Fitzmier, Reno, NV. Great grandchildren: Morgan Vincent Tribbett, Jackson Link Tribbett, Brooklyn Nicole Tribbett, Hudson Eric Tribbett, Taylor Jo Tribbett, Blake Fitzmier, Jakob Fitzmier, Kason William Lakatos, Westin Paul Lakatos.
Preceding him in death are his wife, Sarah Elizabeth, parents Frank & Katherine Mathies, brothers, Walter, Elmer, Howard and infant brother also named Harold Frank, sisters Rosa Klein and Martha Schaffert, nephew Tommy Mathies. In-laws preceding Harold were Ben & Millie Spelts, brothers in laws Henry Spelts, CE Spelts, Roy Spelts, sisters in laws Mary Ellen Mathies, Lucille Hutchinson, Irene Turvey, and Mable Shively.
Harold also leaves behind friends Doris Doughtery, Patty Martin, all his beloved nurses at Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center and Hospice as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and many old acquaintances.
Services were held at the First Church of the Nazarene in Yuma, CO on Friday, March 23, 2012 with arrangements by Baucke Funeral Home.

Christ Achtenberg, 89, New Leipzig, was called to his eternal home on Thursday, November 24, 2016, surrounded by his loving wife and family at Jacobson Memorial Hospital.

Christian Achtenberg was born on June 21, 1927 to Jacob and Emelia (Redinger) Achtenberg in New Leipzig, North Dakota on the family farm. Christ attended country school through the 8th grade. He was baptized at home and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church. He joined the army in 1953, stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky and was honorably discharged in 1955. On June 2, 1957, he married the love of his life, Erma Kufeldt, at Trinity Lutheran Church north of New Leipzig. Together, they were blessed with three children. They lived on the family farm north of New Leipzig until moving to town in August 2005. He loved farm life and the time he spent farming along side his son, Alroy. They quit farming in 1994. Along with farming, Christ was a school bus driver and mechanic for New Leipzig school for many, many years until retiring in 1996. The memories he made with his bus kids were held close to his heart. He was hired by many to cop weddings, dances, and other social gatherings. Christ was fortunate to be able to be living at home with his wife until recently. He spent the past two months at Jacobson Memorial Hospital Care Center.
Christ’s love for his family was obvious, always showing them how much he cared. He looked forward to every family gathering. His kind heart was not only to family, but extended to everyone he knew. The kindness and compassion he shared will give comfort to his loved ones. Playing cards, telling stories and jokes, or just watching the kids play were highlights in his life. After moving to town, he enjoyed going downtown for morning coffee, card playing and visiting. But not for too long...he would not have wanted to miss one of Erma’s meals. Christ was proud to have won the award for Fullest Beard in 1985 at New Leipzig’s 75th Anniversary. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the American Legion.
