The funeral for Fred Paul Hiller, Fredonia, ND, will be Tuesday, October 18, 2005 at 10:30 AM at Nazareth Congregational Church in Fredonia. Visitation will be Monday from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home in Kulm, ND. Burial will be at Nazareth Congregational Cemetery rural Fredonia.
Fred Paul Hiller was born September 12, 1922 to Fred D. and Lydia (Flaig) Hiller near Fredonia, ND. He graduated from Kulm High School in 1942. Fred purchased the family farm from his parents and raised Hereford cattle which were his pride and joy. Although Fred became profoundly hearing impaired in his late 20's, he still participated in many community and family activities. Older members of his family and friends remember him as an excellent student and someone with many talents. Fred had a beautiful bass voice and participated in various music groups as a young man. He sang with a family group consisting of two sisters and a brother. He also sang with a male quartet at church. Fred loved reading and listening to baseball and football games. He also loved visiting with people.
Fred died Friday, October 14, 2005 at Ashley Nursing Home in Ashley, North Dakota. He was 83 years old.
Fred is survived by one brother; Reverend Wilbert Hiller, Virginia Beach, VA, six nieces and three nephews; Adella Kjos, Jamestown, ND, Judy (Mel) Schmitz, Park Rapids, MN, Doris (Jim) Rheault, West Fargo, ND, Lori Buchholz, Sioux Falls, SD, Valetta Fellenbaum, Virginia Beach, VA, Cheryl Jorban, Tacoma, WA, Dale (Judy) Mueller, Zimmerman, MN, Leighton Hiller, Fargo, ND, Stephen Hiller, San Francisco, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Lydia Hiller, one brother; Joe Hiller, four sisters; Ella Kleingartner, Nora Mueller, Elda Tvete, Noma Buchholz, four brothers-in-law; Christ Kleingartner, Albert Mueller, Edward Tvete, Wesley Buchholz, two sisters-in-law; Elaine Hiller Halldorson, Dorothy Hiller, and one nephew; Ernie Kleingartner.
