Funeral service for Esther Becker, formerly of Odessa, was held Tuesday at the Chapel of Strate Funeral Home in Davenport. Mrs. Becker, 81, died April 7 in Spokane. She was born May 4, 1913, in Odessa to John and Lydia (Reiman) Kuest. She grew up in the Odessa area, graduating from school there. She married Emanuel Becker of Ritzville on Dec. 15, 1957. They lived in the Odessa area until the late 1970s, when they moved to Airway Heights. Mr. Becker died in 1988 and Mrs. Becker continued to reside in Airway Heights until two and a half years ago, when she moved to Lilac Plaza in Spokane. While in Odessa, Mrs. Becker was quite active in Christ Lutheran Church and worked for Odessa Memorial Hospital for a time. After moving to Airway Heights, she was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Reardan. Mrs. Becker will be missed by many friends and relatives. She is survived by two daughters, Karen Schultz of Newport and Lynette Becker of Airway Heights; three grandchildren, Michel Schultz of Spokane, Michelle Mullaley of Newport, and Mark Schultz of Priest River, Idaho; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ed Kuest of Odessa and Harvey Kuest of Soap Lake; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Emanuel in 1988; one daughter, Dixie Lee; three sisters; and five brothers. [Davenport Times; 4/13/1995; p. 8]
