B.F. "Pepper" Curry, 84, of Scottsbluff, Neb., died March 12, 2004, after a lengthy illness.
He was born June 25, 1919, in Grant, Neb., to Otha and Rosa Jorgensen Curry. The family moved to Lingle where he graduated from Lingle High School.
After graduation he attended barber school in Denver and began barbering in Douglas. He joined the National Guard on Dec. 19, 1940. He left the service Dec. 10, 1945, and returned to work as a barber in Rawlins.
On Dec. 31, 1948, he married Helen Korb of Torrington and returned to Rawlins to continue barbering. He bought a barbershop in Basin and eventually sold that to go to work for Husky Oil Co. in Cody. He worked there 1953-82, when he retired.
Mr. Curry was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Elks Lodge in Cody. He enjoyed woodworking and made treasure chests for little children. He collected and built puzzles for many friends. He enjoyed fishing, going to the mountains and spending time with his wife and family.
He is survived by his wife, daughters Judy (Steve) Gilmore of Wheatland and Jill Curry of Scottsbluff and grandchildren Martin Gilmore of Scottsbluff and Gretchen Gilmore of Wheatland.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Bernard Curry of Torrington.
A graveside memorial service will be at 10 a.m. March 20 at Valley View Cemetery in Scottsbluff with Rev. Scott Peterson officiating.
A memorial has been established for the Western Nebraska Community College Music Program.
