Emma Louise Sauter was born 5 August 1913 on her parents' farm in Carson Twp, near Carson, ND. to Jakob and Mary (Hintz) Sauter. Her parents were German immigrants from Ukraine. She was confirmed in the German Congregational Church. In 1940 she moved to St. Paul, MN and lived with families doing housework for 34 years, and later for 11 years she worked at the Gillette Hospital. In 1986 she moved to Bethany, OK. She attended Bethany 1st Church of the Nazarene and worked with children in the Sunday School classes. Her hands were never idle and stayed busy helping others. She loved to knit and crochet making gifts for her family for which she will always be remembered. One of her great grandnephews was born on her birthday and a great grandniece was named for her which pleased her greatly. She was a Life member of the American Historical of Germans from Russia. Her parents, her brothers, Robert and Rudy Sauter, sisters Lydia Matthews and Gertrude Scott, and 3 infant siblings preceded her in death. She is survived by her brothers Clarence (Glenna) Sauter of Milaca, MN and Ed (Bev) Sauter of Carson, ND, and her sister Florence (Gus) Sheldon of Portland, OR as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great grand nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene, on Tuesday, Sept 15th at 3:00 pm in the Chapel in the Round.
