Ernest was the 7th child of John and Christina Zimbelman.
In Aug. of 1930, when he was 13 years old had a terrible accident when the team of horses, he had hitched to a disc out in the field, became frightened and was running away. It appeared that he got onto the tongue of the disc and was able to hold on until the horses turned around pulling the tongue under the disc. He was unconscious when people going by found him. Was taken to the farm where Dr. Peck came out to check him. His head and body were badly lacerated and bruised. For 3 weeks he laid unconscious with someone by his side 24 hours a day, feeding and changing his bandages every day. His sister Erna sat with him many hours talking and reading to him. When he finally started to respond after 3 weeks he would say everything backwards. It took a while but he did recover and was fine.
He was a farmer. At the age of 42 he passed away after he was involved in a automobile accident. Was married to Martha Walz and had one son Marlin.
