Harry Lester Aman, age 84, Wishek, N.D., died Thursday, Aug. 7, 2003, at Wishek Community Hospital, Wishek.
Mr. Aman was born Feb. 14, 1919, at Lehr, the son of Gottlieb and Mary (Lehr) Aman. He grew up and attended school in Lehr. After graduating from Lehr High School, he served with the Civilian Conservation Corps in California and Washington. He returned to the Lehr area, where he taught rural school.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during World War II. After his discharge, he began working in the administrative offices for the Union Pacific railroad and later for Burlington Northern railroad of Great Falls, Mont., and in Whitefish, Mont.
He married Joette Kovach in 1952. He retired from the railroad in 1976 and continued living in the Whitefish area until he moved to an assisted living center in Missoula, Mont. In December 1998, he moved to the Gackle (N.D.) Care Center and in October 1999 moved to the Wishek Nursing Home.
He is survived by a son, Randall, Ogden, Utah; a brother, Eugene (Connie), Wishek; two sisters, Gladys Vogel, San Diego, Calif., and Vivian (Richard), Fiechtner, Mesa, Ariz.; a brother-in-law, John Meier, Alta Loma, Calif. and a sister-in-law, Gladys Aman, Big Sandy, Mont.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and four sisters.
