MAIDEN NAME
On the birth records of her children Friedrika's name is given as: Sailer (1855, 1857, 1864, 1868), Seiter (1858, 1860, 1870, 1876), and Sauter (1862, 1878).
In the marriage record that is assumed to be for Daniel Harr and Friedrika, her name is given as Seiler.
In the death records of her children, Louise and Daniel, her name is listed as Sider.
No Friedrikas are found in any Sailer or Sauter families. An Aurora Friedricka Seiter was born 5 Mar 1837 in Simferopol, Crimea, to Heinrich Seiter and Christina Margaretha Hank/Hantke. This fits perfectly with the age of Friederika in the 1858 Grossliebental census. A Heinrich Seiter was originally found in Güldendorf with a wife and a daughter born in 1825. He disappears from there in 1830. He would seem to be the same Heinrich Seiter who then appears in Crimea.
In the 1858 Grossliebental census, Friederika was referred to as being from Güldendorf. Merv Weiss wrote: "It has been my experience that members of a family and one or two generations thereafter were referred to as colonists of whichever colony where they first owned land (which was of course communally owned). Thus a man was known as a Guldendorf colonist even after he had moved to another colony. Also it is most likely his sons were also called Guldendorf colonists, even if they were not living there."
Regarding the issue of movement between colonies in South Russia, Curt Renz wrote: "Something to remember concerning the 'movement' issue is: these people quite often tended to migrate from place to place so that it is not unusual to find children of one family being born in different villages (sometimes returning several times later to one place or another). Sometimes they moved a short distance and other times, a much longer distance, only to return one spot they'd lived in at an earlier time."
No other Friederika Sailer, Sauter or Seiter was found born in the appropriate time frame. Based upon all of these factors, it is assumed at this time that she was the Aurora Friederika Seiter born in Simferopol. There is currently no actual hard evidence to support this assumption.
