Anna Maria Margaret Schoenfeld was born on December 30, 1887. She was the daughter of Fred and Dorothea Koch. She was baptized and attended Christian Day School at Trinity Lutheran Church in Friedensau. In 1902, she was confirmed by Pastor William Cholcher at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Deshler.
On February 4, 1914, she was married to John M. Geisler. Four children were born to this union. John Geisler passed away July 22, 1932. On September 30, 1934, she married August J. Schoenfeld who passed away February 26, 1961.
Mrs. Geisler lived in the Deshler area all of her life; the last eight years at Parkview Haven Nursing Home. She passed into eternal life on Friday, December 14, 1979. She reached the age of 91 years, 11 months, and 14 days.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Ernest Geisler; a daughter, Irma Coverston; and a step son, Ervin Schoenfeld.
She is survived by a daughter, Lula Schmidt, and a son, Paul R. Geisler, both of Lincoln; a son-in-law, C. Andrew Coverston of Hyattsville, Maryland; four step sons; Herbert of Deshler, Arthur of Napa, California, Melvin of Deshler, and Helmer of Tuscon, Arizona; one brother, William Koch of York, Nebraska; fourteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
The funeral service was held at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Deshler on Monday, December 17, 1979. Pastor James Moll spoke on the theme, "Heavenly Reward," based on Matthew 5:12. St. Peter Men's Choir, directed by Mr. Charles Lieder, sang "Nearer My God To Thee." Mrs. Charles Lieder provided the organ accompaniment for the congregational singing of "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" and "Oh, Rejoice, Ye Christians, Loudly."
Interment took place at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery. Serving as casket bearers were Otto Koch, Leo Koch, Arnold Koch, Edgar Koch, Louis Vieselmeyer, and Floyd Anderson.
