SCHMIDT, 78, died Thursday at St. Mary's Medical Center, Madison, Wis. She was a Fort Wayne native and later moved to Fremont. She also lived in New Glarus, Wis. Surviving are her husband, the Rev. Reuben J.; three sons, Thomas E. of New York, Dr. Paul of Sun Prairie, Wis., and Timothy of Topeka, Kan.; three daughters, Margaret Phillips of Madison, Julia Lehmann of Chicago and Gretchen Doerr of Philadelphia; 13 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a brother, George Weller of Portland, Ore. A daughter, Lisa, preceded her in death. Memorial services Saturday at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, New Glarus, and at 4 p.m. Monday at Peace Lutheran Church. Burial in Concordia Cemetery.
