Sheila Jean McFarland:
Lucile R. Zimbelman, 93, of Carson City, formerly of Battle Creek, died Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at the Laurels of Carson City. Lucile was born April 1, 1924 in St. Francis, KS to George and Julia (Orth) Holzworth. She married Albert Zimbelman in 1945 and had two children together.
Lucile was a lifetime member of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church where she was actively involved. She was a member of the Ecclessians and the Martha Circle and attended the Christian Women's Association and worked at the Soup Kitchen. She was also a member of the Women of the Moose, Marshall Lodge #202. Lucile enjoyed maintaining her home and flower garden, playing the organ, ballroom dancing and antique restoration. She loved sewing and baking and cooking for her family and received the Beautiful Battle Creek Award in 1989. Most of all, Lucile had a love for her children, family and friends and took great pride in compiling family photo albums which continue to be enjoyed by her family.
Lucile is survived by her two children, Sheila (Steven) McFarland and Rick (Kate) Zimbelman; four grandchildren, Sarah (Andy) Middlestead, Jessica (Alex Rossman) Zimbelman, Zach (Holly) Zimbelman and Matt (Bethanie) McFarland and four great-grandchildren.
Lucile was preceded in death by her loving husband, Albert in 2012, her 10 siblings and her parents.
Funeral services to celebrate Lucile's life will be 12:30 p.m., Thursday, September 7, 2017 at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, officiated by Rev. Dr. James M. Gysel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, starting at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church.
