  Ingried Reule: Haus Nr.65 b www.findagrave.com: www.findagrave.com/memorial/20873250/gottlieb-b_-henne Gottlieb was born in Klostitz, South Russia, on January 20, 1864, the first child of Peter and Louise (Engel) Henne. He married Rosina (Schwalbe) in Koostitz on January 4, 1885. Because of the fear and threat of being called on to serve in the Russian Army, they decided to sell what possessions they had and migrate to the United States in 1898. They had six children with them (Mary, Regina, John, Matt, Anna, and Sam). After arriving in New York, they traveled across the country and arrived in Eureka, South Dakota. Here they bought a wagon, a team of hoses, a cow and a stove. They headed north with no particular destination in mind. They finally arrived at a point eight miles southwest of Martin, North Dakota. They stopped and took up a homestead in Section 5 of Berline Township in Sheridan County. Their first home was built in 1908 and a barn in 1909. By 1906, he and Rosina added five more children. Gottlieb was an active and interested worker for the interest of his family and community. He won the respect of all who knew him. Because of this respect, his friends elected him as county commissioner for Sheridan County. Ill health forced Gottlieb to turn the farming over to his two youngest sons, Adolph and Henry. Gottlieb died at the family farm at the age of 61 from cancer. He was survived by his wife and ten children.
