Henry A. Goehring, 90, of Lodi, died Tuesday morning in his home after a brief illness.
Mr. Goehring was a native of South Dakota and farmed there. He joined the Army during World War I. After the war, he moved to Acampo where he was also a farmer.
He married Magdalena Schnaidt in 1926, while living in Lodi. She died in October 1967.
In 1968, Mr. Goehring married Bertha Zimbelman and he also retired from farming.
He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 22, Lodi.
In addition to his first wife, Magdalena Goehring, he was preceded in death by two brothers.
Mr. Goehring is survived by his wife Bertha Goehring, of Lodi; two daughters, Darlene Bennett, of Woodford, Violet Rose Priest of Acampo; four brothers, Leonard Goehring, of Lodi, Ben Goehring, of South Dakota, Albert Goehring, of Iowa, and Edward Goehring, of South Dakota; four sisters, Bertha Mettler, of Lodi, Pauline Weicht, of Lodi, Martha Gamble, of South Dakota and Amelia Nuss, of South Dakota; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. in the Zion Reformed Church of Lodi with the Rev. A.M. Guthmiller officiating. The American Legion Post No. 22 will officiate at Lodi Memorial Cemetery where interment will be held. Gierhart & Wells Funeral Directors are handling arrangements. Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today and until 8 p.m. Thursday. Memorials may be made to the Zion Reformed Church or to the American Heart Association in his memory.
