John Pleasants, I (in America, aka John the Immigrant) was actually the third in his line from England to have this name. John Pleasants, I (in America) father was John Pleasants, II (1618-death unk) and his grandfather was John Pleasants, I (1588-1640). For this record John Pleasants, I (aka the III from his line in England) will be listed as above so that the U. S. records match this one, and (hopefully) the records of his descendants with this same name.
The Pleasants family were a prominent Virginia Quaker family with lands on the Upper James River. John Pleasants (d. 1698) emigrated from England and settled in Henrico County, Virginia, around 1665. He converted to Quakerism and was an active and prominent member of the church, donating land to the church, the Curles Meeting House, and filing peitions and reports to the authorities on behalf of the Society of Friends. He married Jane (Larcome) Tucker, widow of Samuel Tucker, in 1670.

John heiratete Larcome, Jane geschätzt 1670. Jane wurde geboren am 29 Nov 1638 in Bristol, Bristol, England, Großbritannien; gestorben in 1708 in , Henrico County, Virginia, USA; wurde beigesetzt in Curles Neck Meeting House Burying Ground, Henrico County, Virginia, USA. John Pleasants, II is actually the fourth to be given this name from his line in England. It's origin comes from John Pleasants, I (1588-1640); then John, II (1618-death unk), then John, III (1644-1698) aka John, I in America and aka John the Immigrant. This has confused many. This is an attempt to clear up that confusion.
